In 1986, following a tip from a fan, Ben & Jerry’s pondered putting cookie dough in their ice cream – a radical idea back then, and a tricky flavour to make; the machines couldn’t handle those big chunks of dough. The chunks had to be hand-cut and thrown into the vanilla ice cream!
